

Pauline Simmons Finner Dunlap, age 95, born April 4, 1921, passed away at her home August 29, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family was by her side as she drifted away to be with the Lord. Pauline was a graduate of Claiborne County High School and worked at the Oak Ridge Manhattan Project during World War II before becoming a secretary at the College of Engineering, University of Tennessee. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, boating, fishing and ceramics. Preceded in death by parents, Richard Fred Simmons and Vesta Miracle Simmons; sister, Opal Simmons and brothers; Farris, Fay, Archie and Wayne Simmons; husbands; Glenn F. Finner and Charles A. Dunlap. Survived by sons, Dale Vincent Dunlap and Paul Andrew Dunlap and wife, Alina; grandchildren Amber Elizabeth Dunlap, Andrew Benjamin Dunlap and Charles Martin Dunlap; stepson, Charles Bernard Dunlap and wife Connie and family of Seymour, TN.; sisters-in law, Doris Dunlap Derden and Alma Simmons as well as several nieces and nephews. Pauline requested a simple memorial gathering of family and friends. The service is to be held at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home 2300 Adair Dr. at 11 am Friday with Rev. John Ellis officiating.
