Robert Bruce Taylor “Bobby”, age 68 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning March 13, 2022 with his sister and hospice by his side. He fought his battle with cancer with dignity, elegance, and grace. Bobby graduated from Bearden High School class of 1971. He started his career at the Rathskeller Restaurant (Western Plaza) as a busboy where they only had female servers. He was so outstanding at his job he became the only male server. Bobby worked many years at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (Volador Room). He was the perfect server winning several awards over the years. People would comment “Bobby belongs in New York City but Knoxville needs him”. He worked at Naples Italian Restaurant for 31 years until they closed in 2019 and finished out his career at Holly’s Gourmet in Bearden. He was truly one of a kind, unforgettable, and will be irreplaceable to those who knew and loved him. Bobby is preceded in death by father and mother, Roy Everette and Dorothy Ingle Taylor; brother, Larry. Survived by sister, Beverly and Tom Thompson. Thank you to Bobby’s Sevierville family, Naples family, neighbors, and lifelong friends (too many to mention) for all of your visits, phone calls, texts, cards, and prayers. You all are very much appreciated! A special thank you to Britt who checked in with Bobby every day to see if he needed anything and UT Hospice for the guidance and support during Bobby’s last days. Bobby’s wishes were to be cremated so there will be a Celebration of Life April 3rd from 5 – 7 pm at Buddy’s Banquet Hall Bearden, 5806 Kingston Pk and a graveside inurnment at a later date.
