Don was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Floyd and Leah Morrow, joining an older brother Dwain. The family soon moved to Caldwell, Idaho where Don was raised until he graduated from high school.
Don joined the United States Air Force in 1947 where he served our country and kept it safe for his 28-year career. Don was involved in all aspects of aircraft maintenance and kept them flying high. Don’s favorite was always the famed P-51 Mustang which he crewed and helped deliver to Iceland when they were replaced by the new F-84 and F-86 Sabre jets in the early 1950s.
Don was later stationed in Bitburg, Germany where his life changed forever and he met and married the love of his life, Theresia. They both traveled the world in service, raising three children who adored them and do so to this day.
Don retired from the Air Force in 1975 and managed Airhaven at Red Bird Airport in Dallas, TX for twelve years before he fully retired, sold the house and RVed with Theresia for fifteen years. They traveled the country, taking in all the sights and spent many a wonderful summer at Blue Mesa RV Ranch outside of Gunnison, Colorado. Many a morning you could find Don puttering around the lake, catching salmon which Theresia promptly had ready for eating that afternoon. They spent many a weekend with their children Floyd, Susan, Michael and grandchildren. Don was especially proud of his grandchildren Cody (a Mechanical Engineer), Shelby (a Deputy Public Defender) and Jackson (a Security Forces Defender for the U.S. Air Force) and watched them grow up to become wonderful adults. When taking a break, they spent time in Dallas with their daughter Barbara and her furry kids, Duchess, Belle and Jessi who always provided entertainment.
Don had a knack for tinkering and could fix anything from a pre-1900 German clock to any car ever made. Don loved to do anything with family including fishing, traveling the world, RVing, attending airshows, bowling, playing cards, umpiring Little League baseball games, watching the Dallas Cowboys and telling many stories. Don loved dogs, especially his grand puppies Trixi and Cooper, and we have no doubt he is rubbing the bellies of Josie, Beau, Duchess, Belle, Jessi, Cassie and Maggie.
Don and Theresia shared a wonderful life together for sixty-six years from marriage vows to bedside handholding during his last hours. Their love affair is one that could fill books and they are the shining example of how to live and love life.
Don is preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd Morrow and Leah Morrow and his brother Dwain Morrow.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresia Morrow, daughter Barbara Morrow, son Michael Morrow, daughter-in-law Jennifer Burton, son Floyd Morrow, daughter-in-law Susan Morrow, grandson Cody Morrow, grandson Jackson Morrow, and granddaughter Shelby and Hayley Morrow-Thompson.
A National Cemetery Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 6th, 2022 at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Rd, Mission, TX 78572. The family requests that In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Don’s name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
