Jesus “Jesse” Banda passed away on July 4, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born on October 27, 1954, in San Benito, Texas, and was a proud lifelong SBHS Greyhound fan. Jesse carried his love for his hometown with pride and shared that spirit with everyone around him.
Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Dolores, and his daughter, Dr. Kimberly Banda. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply. Jesse was a simple man who found joy in everyday moments. He was known for his quick wit, his sense of humor, and his ability to make others laugh. People felt comfortable around him because of his kindness and down-to-earth nature.
Jesse was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He shared 49 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dolores. As a husband, he was loving, dependable, and supportive. Together, they built a home that was full of love, generosity, and faith — a home that welcomed many and made a lasting impact on others through their acts of service.
As a father, Jesse was everything a child could hope for. He didn’t just offer encouragement — he lived it through his actions, constant presence, and kind words. He was deeply proud of his daughter, Dr. Kimberly Banda, and loved every minute of being a dance and cheer dad. From recitals to competitions, he was always in the crowd, cheering the loudest. One of his proudest moments was seeing Kimberly become the first doctor in the family. He believed in her and reminded her often of what she was capable of achieving.
Jesse had a strong work ethic and took great pride in everything he did. He worked for 37 years at Time Warner and later served another 8 years with SBCISD. Even after retirement, Jesse stayed active by helping at his daughter’s dance studios. He made sure everything was in perfect condition for the dancers and families, working quietly but faithfully behind the scenes.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Guadalupe “Joe” Banda and his sister, Luisa Govea. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, generosity, and faith. His presence will be deeply missed by his wife, Dolores; his daughter, Kimberly; his family; and the many friends and people whose lives he impacted with his kindness and dedication.
Whether he was sharing stories, playing his guitar, or cheering on his Greyhounds, Jesse brought joy to every room he entered. His life was defined by love, humility, faith and dedication to those he cared about. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire everyone who knew him.
