Joe L Lopez

Jose Luis Lopez, born January 24, 1940, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, at the age of 85. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Jose Luis had a long and fulfilling career, working for M&M Sales for 15 years and for Mercedes ISD for 12 years, and after his retirement, he continued as a rancher. He dedicated his life to service in his community, actively participating in organizations such as the Mercedes Quarterback Club, Mercedes Little League, and as a trailrider.

He is survived by his devoted spouse, Ercilia Lopez, and their two children, Norma Saldana (Robert Saldana) and Grisel Mejia (Victor Mejia). Jose Luis was a proud grandfather to Liza Noriega, Erika Noriega, Robert Saldana Jr. (Josie Saldana), Laura Saldana Benavidez (Oscar Benavidez), Janelle Saldana Castillo (Roel Castillo), and Valerie Saldana Flores (Jesse Flores). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy.

Jose Luis will be remembered for his hardworking nature, kindness, his sense of humor, and his dedication to his family and community. We invite friends and family to share their memories of him as we come together to celebrate his life.
