Jorge Maldonado

February 2, 1966 – August 2, 2025

Jorge Maldonado, 59, of Progreso, Texas, passed away on August 2, 2025. He was born on February 2, 1966, in Weslaco, Texas, to Fidencio and Candida Maldonado.

Jorge was a skilled and dedicated leather smith for over 30 years. He was a man of many passions—he especially loved spending quality time with his family and cherished his role as a grandpa. Jorge had a playful spirit and enjoyed racing remote control cars. He also had an impressive collection of boots and knives, and his love for music was evident in the joy he found in singing and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sandra Maldonado of Progreso, TX; his son, Keanu Maldonado of Progreso, TX; his daughter, Savannah Maldonado of Donna, TX; and his cherished grandson, Khai Maldonado of Donna, TX. He is also survived by his six sisters: Christie, Sylvia, Diana, Rosa, Martha, Alicia and one brother; Fidencio Maldonado.

Jorge was preceded in death by his parents, Fidencio and Candida Maldonado; his grandmother, Cruz Maldonado; and his three brothers: Rolando Maldonado, Robert Maldonado, and Ysauro Maldonado.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a prayer service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM at Relampago Cemetery in Relampago, Texas.

Jorge will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his vibrant love for music, his deep devotion to family, and the warmth and laughter he brought into every life he touched. All funeral services are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home of La Feria, Texas.
