

Juan was born on October 12, 1940, in Waterloo, Wisconsin, to Marietta (Brennan) and Armand Schommer. He worked as a tradesman throughout his life and was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication to Jehovah.
On July 25, 1953, Juan was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at an International Convention in New York City. From that moment forward, he remained a faithful and devoted servant of Jehovah. Over the years, Juan was deeply loved , he was kind and generous with his time even with people he just met, leaving a positive impact in their lives. He was zealous at sharing Jehovah's message and promise with everyone he encountered, from Wisconsin to North Dakota and later in Harlingen, Texas. He especially cherished his preaching work by sharing his wisdom and knowledge, which he carried out with care and dedication. He also enjoyed contributing to the regional building projects, offering his time and skills wherever needed.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Hans, Don,and Mike Schommer; his sisters Juanita and Rita; a son, Carlos Hernandez; and his granddaughter, Kayla Hernandez. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Julia Schommer, and his beloved dogs, Chiquita and Wera.
He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy throughout his life.
Juan had seven children with his first spouse, the late Juana Schommer:

Juan was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren:
Sean (Olivia) Robbins, Liddie (Jarrod) Thompson, Lizzy (Tom) Scott, Marshall, Randall Garcia, Sherrianne (David) Hartshorn, Abigail (Shad) Purchase, Alex Garcia, Reannon Rogers, Sam Schommer, Sophie Schommer, Kaden Schommer, Aliyah Schommer, Karla Michelle Hernández, Kayla Hernández (deceased-at age 2), Alexis Rangel, Rebecca and Jael Zavala.
He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Dunlin, Morgan, Dory, Izzabella Bailey-Ann Scott, and Alexander John-Lee Scott.
Juan is remembered fondly by 19 nieces and nephews and was one of nine siblings:
