Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez, beloved educator and devoted community member, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, at the age of 77. Maria dedicated over 30 years to the La Feria School District, shaping the minds and hearts of countless students. Her passion for education and commitment to her students left an indelible mark on the community she cherished.
Maria was an active member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she served as an Lector and Eucharistic Minister. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found great joy in helping others through her church involvement. Maria’s warmth and kindness touched everyone around her, and her unwavering spirit inspired many.
An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Maria brought her infectious enthusiasm to every game, proudly donning her team colors and rallying friends and family to join her in cheering for her favorite team. Her love for the Cowboys was a reflection of her vibrant personality and her zest for life.
Maria is survived by her loving family, including her children Susie Dacus (Gary) and Carlos Rodriguez (Angela), her grandchildren Drew Gay, Brianna Grimes, Alana McNeely, Hannah Dacus, Gary Dacus, Shanti Rodriguez, Hunter Rodriguez, and Alexzandrea Lopez, 9 great grandchildren, and her siblings Dollie Olvera, Angie Hamm, Arnold Castillo, and Frank Castillo who will carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to community service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Maria is preceded by her husband Andres Rodriguez, her parents Bernardino and Alicia Castillo, and siblings Alicia and Bernardino Jr.
A memorial service will occur Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 1PM-4PM with a rosary at 2PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, TX 78559.
