Mechelle Madrigal

Mechelle Del Castillo Madrigal of Harlingen, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 13, 2023 after a lengthy illness. Mechelle was born on October 2, 1933 to Vicente Del Castillo and Josefina Lozano in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. On August 15, 1953 she married Rodolfo Madrigal of Rio Grande City, TX. Mechelle and Rodolfo had 4 children; Gilda Madrigal Baker, Francisco Madrigal, Luis Madrigal and Veronica Madrigal Hayes.

Mechelle was known for her love for family and friends. Her loving, caring spirit was demonstrated with everyone she came across throughout her life. Mechelle lived her life with great passion and she showed us how to live, how to love and how to laugh. A longtime resident of Rio Grande City and later McAllen, TX, in 2003 she moved to Harlingen TX to be near her daughters.

Mechelle enjoyed music, dance, sewing and helping with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mechelle’s greatest source of comfort and strength was her faith and her savior Jesus Christ.

Mechelle was preceded in death by her husband, Rodolfo Madrigal, parents Vicente Del Castillo and Josefina Lozano, brothers Vicente Del Castillo, Carlos Del Castillo, Rodolfo Del Castillo, Fernando Del Castillo, Arturo Del Castillo and Francisco Del Castillo, sisters; Maria de los Angeles Del Castillo, Luz Maria Del Castillo Madrigal, Edna Del Castillo, Blanca Del Castillo Lozano, Alicia Del Castillo Espinosa, and her beloved son Luis Madrigal.

She is survived by her daughters Gilda Madrigal Baker and Veronica Madrigal Hayes, son Francisco Madrigal, grandchildren; Christopher Baker, Nicole Richard, Jessica Schadrie, Blake Madrigal, Richard Madrigal, Derek Madrigal, Brittany Madrigal Martinez, Jordan Madrigal, Alan Hayes, Daniel Hayes and great grandchildren; Liam and Lizzy Baker, Elise and Alaina Richard, Maddie and Collin Schadrie, Emerson, Preston and Mallory Madrigal, Yian Hayes and Nolan Hayes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the US and Mexico. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
