Ramiro R Garcia Sr.

Ramiro R. Garcia, 69 of Harlingen entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at his residence. Ramiro was born October 13, 1947 in Harlingen, Texas to J. Ramon and Lupe R. Garcia. He is preceded in death by his father, J. Ramon Garcia.

Ramiro is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lupita Garcia, his two sons Ramiro Garcia, Jr. (Melissa) and Joe Anthony Garcia (Laura Jo Ortega), and one grandson, Diego Jose Garcia.

Ramiro was the oldest of 11 brothers and sisters. Ramiro graduated from Harlingen High School in 1966, he subsequently served in the U.S. Army until 1969. Ramiro was the General Manager at Hicks Oil & Butane where he was employed for 35 years. Ramiro loved his family, enjoyed playing golf with his sons where he did more bird watching than golfing. Ramiro was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor and friend. His kind words, wonderful stories and life lessons made a positive impact to so many people. He will truly be missed.

Visitation hours will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary @ 6:00 pm in Heavenly Grace Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 @ 1:00 pm in Heavenly Grace Chapel. Burial will follow in Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the V.A. Clinic in Harlingen, V.A. Audie Murphy Hospital in San Antonio and the loving staff of Greater Valley Hospice for the superb and loving care they provided Ramiro over the years.
