Becky, as she was better known as was born on March 04, 1948, to Alicia and Juan Avelino Grimaldo Sr. (both deceased) in Los Laureles, Texas. Becky was the eldest of 13 children. Becky comes from a hard-working family who traveled across various states as migrant workers in California and Oregon. She went on to graduate from Harlingen High School in 1967. Married Joe Lopez on October 14, 1989, and loved him faithfully until his death. Becky retired from HEB after 41 years of service as a bookkeeper. Many called Becky the “Queen Bee” because she was the best at her job and took to many co-workers as a second mom to them.
One of Becky’s most important legacies was her strong faith as a Jehovah’s Witness for 58 years. Despite facing significant difficulties and hardships in life, her strong religious belief acted as a source of strength and resilience, allowing her to persevere through challenging times.
Her one and only daughter, Kimberly Susanne Alaniz, was her pride and joy. Becky lived with her and her family for many loving years. Her grandchildren were a great source of joy and love. She enjoyed having long conversations with her son-in-law whom she loved as her own. Becky’s hobbies included baking, gardening, love for birds and shopping with her sisters. If you knew Becky, you know how much she loved every George Strait song. Her eyes lit up and her heart sighed at the beginning tune of every one of his songs.
Becky struggled with health issues arising from kidney failure for several years. In 1997 her brother Armando Grimaldo lovingly donated one of his kidneys to her and thus kept her living for the past 28 years. We would like to thank the medical staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center, but with special appreciation to the PCCU nursing staff and Dr. Cynthia Luna-Salazar and Dr. Donald Roa.
The Alaniz and Grimaldo family would like to thank everyone for their love and support with our great loss.
