Tommy, “Coach V” a La Feria native, graduated from Pan American University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Education. He began his career as a young coach at La Feria Junior High where he worked for 37 years. Throughout his career, Tommy impacted the lives of numerous students and colleagues. Known as “Coach V” by everyone, he had a passion for coaching sports such as football, basketball, track and field and cross country. He was famously known for his quote, “Let’s go Troopers!” on and off the field. He retired in 2020 having had an influential and prosperous career.
Tommy’s hobbies included walking his dog “Halo,” jogging the neighborhood, watching novelas with his mother Maria, having morning coffee with Tio Noe and Tia Angie, and spending quality time with his family. Coach V also enjoyed vacationing with his family, attending Holy Mass every Sunday, and supporting his favorite sports teams. His true pride and joy was his daughter, Briana. He loved watching her succeed as a student, athlete, and mother. He was extremely proud of the young woman she has become.
Coach V will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
We’ll see you on the field again someday Trooper.
