Betty (Rankin) Murphy, 72, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2013. She was born November 22, 1940 in Oldham County, Kentucky to the late Effie May (Harrod) and Carl Mayfield Rankin. She was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church, Young at Heart, and a Kentucky Colonel. Betty was a retired Floral Designer at Minish & Potts, the Greenery, and The Petal Pusher. She also worked at Calihan’s Pork Processors in Peoria, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Murphy, and her son Byron Michael Murphy.
She leaves behind her children William “Rusty” Murphy Jr. (Denise), Troy A. Murphy (Tammy), and Vickie D. Murphy. Granddaughter: Ashley Murphy, Grandsons: William R. Murphy III, Austin Murphy and Jacob Murphy. Brothers: Jim, Richard “Dip”, Jerry and Andy Rankin. Sisters: Rita Rankin and Barbara Simpson.
A Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 am at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 311 W. Jefferson St. LaGrange, KY 40031, with burial to follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Centerfield, KY. Visitation from 2-8pm on Friday.
