He was born on October 29, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James William Sr. and Mildred Sue Wilson Henson.
Throughout his life, Doobie was a hard worker – Whether it was on the farm, roofing, or lending a hand to a friend. His greatest joy, though, was providing for his family—especially his pride and joy, his son, Aaron.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie "Rock" Henson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Marsha Crabb Henson; his son, Aaron Marshall Henson (Candace); his brothers, James William Henson Jr. (Helen), David Henson, and Kenny Henson (Velinda); along with a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who will forever miss his warmth, wit, and one-of-a-kind spirit.
A celebration of Doobie's life will be held on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson Street, LaGrange, KY, with burial to follow at Smithfield Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doobie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
