I was a student in one of Erin's  7th grade science classes at Walter C. Young Middle during the 2002-2003 school . Although it has been more than 20 years since I was a student in her class, the lessons I learned in her class helped mold me into the person I am today. 

Science was my least favorite subject in school, but in 7th grade it was my favorite  that year because of Erin (then known as Miss Pulley) !  Erin truly was a teacher ahead of her time, incorporating technology, cooperative learning, and community building into her classroom when that wasn't a thing in middle school classrooms. Her class was the first class I remember doing actual science experiments in-making ice cream was my favorite!

Erin didn't just teach us about science, she taught us how to be good students and  even better humans. In her classroom, students were encouraged to try new things, innovate, and plan for the future. I did goal setting for the first time in her class.

When I walked into Erin's  class for the first time as a 12 year old, I had low confidence in myself. She helped me see that I was smart, that I could do amazing things. Erin had a gift for celebrating students and seeing their potential.  I still have the certificate and gold trophy from being Student of the Week twice in Erin's class.

Because of the positive impact Miss Pulley had on my life, I  have gone to become a teacher and  then a nonprofit Founder & CEO of a nonprofit that works with children and teens impacted by foster care.  I wish I had been able to thank her and tell her the positive difference she made in my life.
Miss Pulley, thank you for teaching us, mentoring so many teens, and planting seeds in my life. You were one of the greats. Having  you as my teacher was such a blessing. It breaks my heart that your life was short, but during your time here, you made a difference and left a beautiful legacy. I will always remember you and carry your lessons with me as I mentor teens as you once did for me.

Erin was a light and the world is now a little dimmer. Funny, loving, and dedicated to her family and friends. She loved her students and was a great teacher.

Mrs. Neylon was one of my middle school teachers at Southern Middle and I always remembered how fun she made class and how sweet she was to us students. It’s teachers like that that make such a special impact on their students lives, more than they will ever know. I’m so sorry for your loss. 

Erin was such a light to us all! When we moved back to Lagrange in 2020, Erin and her little family came over to welcome us to the neighborhood.  Lydia had made muffins and a sweet card.   
Erin was such a wonderful mother and my heart is broken for this sweet and dear family. She will be dearly missed by so many; however,  I know  her legacy of love, dedication and commitment will live on through Lydia.  My sincere prayers and condolences to her parents, Matt and Lydia.  

What an amazing soul. I remember being torn up when she moved as Erin was my first real friend that was a girl. Goofy junior high fun. Her, Roll and Dilley were thick as thieves. All the parties at the lake or sitting in what’s now my uncles house after Ethan and I snuck out when my folks went to bed. Love you kid!
