Freddie Jean Battle

Freddie Jean Battle, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. She was born to the late Benjamin Hanna and Daisy Baker Hanna in Hornsby, TN, on January 23, 1939. She was the youngest of 8 children, Evelyn Maharrey, Hazel Crowley-Watkins, Wynell Nichols, Blanche Jozue Jones, Stella Rogers, Clara Butler, and Harold Hanna who joyously welcome her to heaven.

Freddie was a loving wife, mother, and friend, and her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, John T. Battle, her daughters Janet Elizabeth Thorley and Shannon Lynn Camp and son Mark Randall Battle. Their son John Thomas Battle Jr passed away on November 13, 2023. She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren: Leslie Lynn Hallgren, Christopher Aaron Camp, Jacob Ian Thorley, John Thomas Battle, Erik Franklin Camp, Sami Kay Battle, Rachel Nicole Gaines, and Marc Jaxon Camp and two great grand children: Caleb Noah Gaines and Lydia Abigail Gaines.

Freddie was a Licensed Practical Nurse of 25 years. She was also long-time members of TOPS and The Red Hat Society of Danville, IL. She loved teaching family and friends to play Canasta and played regularly with club members and family.

A memorial gathering for Freddie will be held Monday, February 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 706 W Jefferson St, Lagrange, KY 40031. She will be laid to rest in the New Albany National Cemetery Columbarium at 1:30.
