George Allen Brown: Son of Bishop and Winona; Husband to Loretta (after two weeks of courtship); Brother to: Denny (Jane), Bobby (Debbie), David (Nancy), Phil and Mike; Dad to Teresa (Jim) and Josh (Emily); Papaw to Jaime and Jacob; Great-Papaw to Silas and Avery; referred to as 'Uncle George" by dozens and as friend by dozens more-- died on Friday, February 28, 2025.
In his 31,992 days on Earth, he served as MP in the Army, a bread truck driver, finance officer, car salesman, barn-builder, concrete worker, construction framer, general contractor, and land developer.
George was a noteworthy card player, avid traveler, experienced deep-sea fisherman, and a lifelong hunter of deer, elk, moose, and bear. His hunting expeditions took him to Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, and New Zealand. This was surpassed only by the travel with the love of his life, Loretta, and their 66 years of adventures around the globe.
In his golden years, he may have been best known as storyteller; reminiscing about his childhood on the farm and life as a prolific outdoorsman.
George was a connoisseur of Maryland-styled crabs, oysters, hot sauce, watermelon, and Krispie Kreme donuts.
George lived a big, full life in his 87 years, with no regrets about the way he lived it. You knew where you stood with him. You knew he'd have your back. And he wouldn't want us to grieve for too long because now Jesus has his.
Special thanks to: Jubal Favatella, Mark Louden, and Sarah Byrd for their love and support during this especially difficult time for the family.
