I’ve never failed to get over a loss like that I experienced with Ian.

He was the salt of the earth and I think of him daily.

I hate that I ignored his final text because I thought it was my niece. 

I miss him.

My prayers and heart goes out to the Connin family. Mr. Ian was a great teacher and friend. He will be missed dearly from all National College. I had just talked to Mr. In the day before and he always knows how to put a smile on a persons face. He will truely be missed and loved by many.

You have my deepest sympathy in the loss of Ian. I worked with him at National College. I never heard a word of negativity from him. He was always patient with his students and rarely sat down in class because he was standing at a student's desk, helping him or her. I found this poem, and I think it describes the Ian I knew, especially in leaving the world better and in making others' lives easier because he lived.


To laugh often and much,
to win the respect of intelligent persons
and the affection of children;
to earn the approbation of honest critics
and to endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to give of one's self;
to leave the world a little better,
whether by a healthy child,

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Connin. We may have only known each other for a short time, but I want you to know that in that short time you truly made a difference in my life. I will continue to pray for the family may you find peace and strength during this time

My heart ached when I heard the news of Ian Connin, one of our Instructors here at National College. My prayers are with the family, and just know that weeping may indure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. May God Bless you all.

We only knew you a short time, but your time at National College touched so many staff, faculty, and students' lives. Ian loved much and was much loved, there is no greater achievement in our short time on this Earth.  May God's loving embrace enfold you at this time, and may you find comfort in the knowledge that you indeed will be reunited with Ian again.

Chris, Barb, Gavin,  We just heard the news about Ian.  We're so sorry and feel the loss that you feel.  The Connins are special people and have always known how to make others feel loved.  I hope you know that we are all sending that love back to you as you go through this.

Ian was easily my favourite person. He opened up my eyes to a lot of things. He always made me smile and made my day.
I'll never forget Ian. He was a very special person. Very beautiful. Had a lovely heart.
I didn't find out until today. It was very difficult. His photography/art was great. I called them masterpieces. It's how I came to know him. I'll miss seeing new masterpieces... I'll mostly miss him. He was a wonderful person. I give you all my condolences. This is a great loss.

Ian really new how to turn a sad frown upside down. So I hope your precious memories of him will keep you all warm.

Chris and Barb, while I only Ian met briefly I feel as if I knew him due to his father's stories and despriptions of his accomplishments.  I feel deeply for your loss, but know that Ian's life was incredibly rich due to your endless support and love.

Celebrate Ian's life and all that he was.  Hold on to all of the great memoies and cherish them.  My prayers are with you and the family and I know that the Lord will be there with you.

I never got to meet Ian, but I saw him through his father's eyes.  I could tell he was a special person. Barb and Chris, Ian was such a sweet young man.  I remember one time when we all went out to dinner after work at OCMS one day. I had to go get my boys from daycare and decided to bring them to the restaurant to meet everyone.  Ian rubbed Luke's hair and, of course, Luke acted bashful.  It was a touching moment.  I love you all and will continue to pray for you.

I just don't know what to say. I sit here with a loss of words because there are no words that can fill the hole left in loved ones hearts at a time like this. I didn't know Ian personally but i know his father Chris and his whole family and his mother Barb. I went to school with them all. The Connin's and I rode the same school bus. They lived a half mile from us on Wallnut Hill Drive. All i can say is our Lord and God Jesus Christ can make a way to live and deal with such a loss. My prayers go out to everyone and anyone affected by this great loss of a loved one. God bless you all.
