He was born on September 20, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William Henry and Emma Lucille (Korb) Thomas.
Jim was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his place on Dale Hollow Lake with his family. He was also a skilled woodworker and handyman; building furniture and always interested in new projects and challenges.
Jim worked for Fetter Printing Company for 25 years and retired as Supervisor of digital pre-press.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother; Bill Thomas.
Left to cherish the memory of Jim are his wife of 54 years; Donna Thomas, sons; Scott Thomas (Tammi), Steve Thomas (Tasha) and Shane Thomas (Molly), 6 grandchildren; Jordan (Alyssa), Austin, Kelsey, Connor, Trent and Seth, 2 great-grandchildren; Alexis and Camden, brothers; Bruce Thomas (Barbara) and Rick Thomas (Cheryl), extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10am with burial to follow at Valley of Rest in LaGrange, Kentucky. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 4-8pm at the funeral home and Saturday morning from 9am until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Home of the Innocents in memory of Jim.
