Marilyn Ann Moffett, 82, passed away on February 15, 2026. She was born on October 25, 1943, in Graceville, Minnesota, to the late Ervine and Isabelle Mauch. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervine and Isabelle Mauch, and her brother, Keith Mauch (Nancy).
Marilyn found joy in simple tasks like mowing her lawn, taking care of her plants, and choosing the perfect pair of earrings for the day. Some of the plants she cared for were over 45 years old! She loved the vast serenity of the ocean and collected shells and smooth stones on every visit to the beach. She was known for her large collection of clowns. She loved popcorn, live music, mood lighting, and the sound of the rain. She was thoughtful, caring, and very sweet.
Marilyn loved her church and loved her friends, cherishing the time she spent in fellowship and worship. She enjoyed playing dominoes and visiting with her friends as part of her weekly ritual. She loved making new friends everywhere she went and loved catching up with old ones. While she spent most of her life in Illinois, she found close camaraderie with her friends in Kentucky. She spoke of how much they meant to her often.
Marilyn was a devoted mom who loved her boys. She was so proud of all of them and their families. She loved them so much and talked about that fact often. Her boys said she was the kind of person you could count on whenever you needed her. Whether it was to pick you up from the airport, a place to crash, borrow money, or show up at a volleyball game. If she said she would be there, you better believe she wouldn't let you down. And she never did.
Marilyn (lovingly called Gamma, Gram, Grandma) gave the best hugs and was the silliest person. Always ready for a bite of chocolate ice cream and with an ear to listen, she made sure everyone in her life felt loved. She laughed hard and tickled harder. Tickle fights always devolved into such phrases as, “NO LICKING”, “I CAN’T BREATHE”, and “HELP”. She loved teasing her grandkids by calling them ornery but always sent them gum and gifts for birthdays and holidays. Her grandchildren spent a lot of time at her house over the years, riding bikes, visiting garage sales, and watching home videos. She loved being with her grandchildren and watching them grow.
Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her sons, Chad Moffett (Rachel), Brett Moffett (Sara), and Lance Moffett (Megan); her sisters, Judy (Don) and Dianne (Dan); her beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Corbin (Carly), Caleb (Hillary), Joshua, Seth, Madison (Jason), Benjamin, Rebecca, Natalie, Liam, Jay, Ava, Carsyn, Ari, and Zala; and her great-grandchild, Scottie.
Services to celebrate Marilyn’s life are Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Crestwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, and the service will start at 11:00 AM.
