Nancy Lillian “Straughn” Bell, age 86 of LaGrange, KY, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024. She was born in 1938 in Westport, KY to S.L. and Gladys Straughn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Lewis “Pete” Bell. Most of her years were spent as a resident of Oldham County. Nancy did bookkeeping at Mallory Taylor Hospital and then later for Dr. John T. Walsh. She finished her career at Oldham Circuit Court from 1981-2001. After retirement she enjoyed the Oldham County Quilting Guild making beautiful quilts for her family to cherish. While her husband was living they spent time fishing at Kentucky Lake where they had a cabin. The family would like to thank Nazareth Home Highlands for the exceptional care they have given Nancy.
She is survived by her daughters, Tina Whitman (Paul) of Shelbyville, KY, Kathy Austin (Randy) of College Grove, TN, Susan Johnson (Greg) of Louisville, KY; sister Dorothy Roberts; Sister-in-law Janet Straughn; grandchildren, Ryan Whitman, Julie Duffell, Patrick Whitman (Alexa Fleischer), Andrew Harley (Savannah), Jonathan Austin, Meredith Gollinger (Greg), Eric (Kate) Johnson; great grandchildren, Harrison Metzger, Henry Harley, Reese Harley and Avery Harley; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Virginia White, Edith Callis, Alice Straughn, Margaret Cox, Marjorie Hartmann, Wanda Burton, Sonny Straughn and Bush Straughn.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Heady-Radcliff Funeral Home 706 W. Jefferson Street in LaGrange. Visitation will be the same day from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30.
