She was born to the late Phillip and Margaret (Murray) Maguire in Plains, Pennsylvania on July 18, 1938.
Patricia valued education, having graduated from Sacred Heart High School and the College of Misericordia, where she earned her teaching degree. She always considered herself a Mercy Girl, seeing as the College of Misericordia was ran by the sisters of Mercy.
Patricia taught for over 55 years in middle school Math and Science. She began her catholic school career teaching at St. Cecilia Catholic School in Iselin, New Jersey and St. Francis Cathedral School in Metuchen, New Jersey before her retirement in 2003 from St. Teresa Catholic School in Titusville, Florida as Vice Principal. Patricia was proud to have students, nearly every year, achieve awards at the State and National levels of the science fair.
She enjoyed attending the annual Space Coast Conference, where she could rub elbows with many astronauts including Buzz Aldrin. Patricia was an avid reader, history buff, and loved to spend her retirement years tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed traveling abroad to visit relatives especially to her beloved Ireland. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LaGrange, Kentucky. Above all she loved her family, cherishing the titles of Mom and Grandma.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William and her sister, Rosemarie Bernesky.
Left to cherish the memory of Patricia are her children, Stephen Hutnick (Mary) of New Jersey, Lisa Talbot (Graham) of Westport, and Melissa Taylor (Adrian) of England; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Hutnick, Jason Hutnick (Rebecca), Ryan Talbot, Connor Talbot, Rhys Talbot, Riley Taylor, Erin Hutnick, and Jarrod Taylor.
A Catholic Prayer Service in conjunction with a Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 6pm at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, Kentucky. A time of gathering will be held from 5pm until the start of the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Patricia can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Humane Society of Oldham County.
