He was born on January 25, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN to the late Dewey and Ella (Atwood) Garmon.
Philip married the love of his life, Linda Weilage, sharing 61 wonderful years and raising two children, Sherry and James V Garmon. He enjoyed tending to his 20 acres of land, mowing on the tractor, and working in the barn.
Philip received a Bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Louisville before going on to have a successful career with Humana before retiring as their Senior Vice President. A longtime member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, he most recently attended LaGrange Baptist Church and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Rippy.
Left to cherish the memory of Philip Brent Garmon are his wife, Linda W Garmon; his children, Sherry and James V Garmon; his grand dog, Charlie; his brothers-in-law, Don Weilage (Carol) and Ralph Weilage (Betty); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Floydsburg Cemetery, 5600 Old Floydsburg Rd, Crestwood, Kentucky, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Dreams with Wings or Down Syndrome of Louisville in honor of his son, or to Hosparus Health for their care of Philip.
