It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Shirley Ann Harmon-Brown of Shelbyville, Kentucky on March 24, 2025. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Born to Clinton and Brenda Harmon on September 18, 1976, in Franklin, Indiana, Shirley brought laughter and love to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Shirley became a mother in 1993, while still in high school, but she never let that hold her back. She went on to graduate from Oldham County High School in Buckner, Kentucky in 1995, often bringing her daughter with her. She was also a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and CNA. She went on to obtain her LPN at Galen College of Nursing in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a hard worker who cherished people and loved being outdoors. Unfortunately, she needed a back surgery in her 20's that changed the trajectory of her life. No matter where she was, though, she always had a heart to love and serve others. Later in life Jesus met her where she was, and she continued to love her family, friends, and those in addiction recovery with that same passion. She had recently graduated from the Robert Alexander Center in Mount Washington, Kentucky and was looking into ways to help others find their way out of addiction and into recovery.
Hailing from a large, close-knit family, Shirley's love encompassed not only her direct relations but extended to everyone she considered family. This included her loving husband Johnny Brown, cherished children Savannah Miller, Jason Harmon and Johnny Brown Jr., and beloved grandchildren Brayden Michael and Kaeleigh Sue.
Also left to remember her vibrant spirit are her father Clinton Harmon, her brother Charles Harmon, her sisters Ashley Goldsmith, Codi Cline, Rodgina Wheeler, Julie Bray, her aunt Patsy Randolph, uncles Kenny Randolph, Clifton Harmon, and her grandmother Jewel Harmon. She was also a cherished aunt to her nieces Jewelynn Harmon, Cierra Harmon, Emilie Harmon, Elizabeth Harmon, and nephews Dustin Harmon, Aiden Harmon, and Shaun Harmon. Shirley also had many cousins she considered more as brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Shirley is predeceased by her mother Brenda Harmon, brother Winfrey Harmon, sister-in-law Celesta Harmon, nephew Christopher Harmon, grandmother Rita Roberts, grandfathers Gene Roberts and Ervin Harmon, and her uncle Phil Hare. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her and her spirit will be carried forward by them.
Shirley was baptized, alongside her son Jason, by her daughter in April 2023 at the LaGrange Campus of Southeast Christian Church. She was deeply loved for her generous heart, her vibrant humor, and the joy she brought to everyone she met. She lived a hard fought Hallelujah story amidst many hardships, but she met every obstacle with courage and strength, inspiring those around her.
In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised for "Financial Peace for Shirley's Family", a cause we believe Shirley herself would encourage. You can contribute your loving support through the link: https://everloved.com/life-of/shirley-harmon-brown/donate/.
In this moment of grief, we honor and remember Shirley Ann Harmon-Brown, whose life brought us all light, love, and joy. She's safe, healed, and at peace in Jesus' arms now.
