Audrey Elizabeth Young

Audrey E. Young, 93, went to be with her Lord & Savior on February 14, 2022. She was born January 24, 1929 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of Joseph Batchelder and Elizabeth (Graham) Batchelder.

After graduating high school on Long Island, NY, Audrey began working for Rubber Corp.. She married the love of her life, Christian S. Young in East Meadow, Long Island in 1951 and settled in Washington, D.C.. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in August of 2021. She worked for the Navy for the Bureau of Ships while living in D.C.. Soon after they moved to Levittown, Long Island, NY. Then Audrey and Christian settled in Chicago, Il, where they adopted 3 children from different families from Catholic Charities of Chicago. After Chicago, Audrey and Chris and the whole family settled in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Audrey was very dedicated to volunteer work and here she delved in Kindervelt, raising funds for Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center. After 6 years in Cincinnati, the family settled in Weston, Conneticut, then, Great Falls Virginia, where Audrey was a volunteer for St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church as director of religious education and of the church. After she retired from her full time volunteer position at St. Catherine’s she settled in Middleburg, Va and then Austin, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Matthew Christian Young, a son-in-law, Brent Kay, a brother Joseph Batchelder, another brother Richard Batchelder, a sister, Frances Rung, another sister, Shirley Whipperman and another sister Ann Watson.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Christian Young, are his daughter’s Amanda Gail Kay and Abigail Atwell & her husband Eugene Atwell. Five grandchildren, Taylor Atwell, Paige Atwell, Liam Kay, Noah Kay and Meredith Kay. Her sister Mary Comesky.

A celebration of life mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Emmaus Catholic Church, Lakeway Texas 78734
