

Barbara Jane (Spain) Lucasey, 89, of Chicago, Illinois died Wednesday afternoon, August 26, 2020 at Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Lakeway, Texas. She was born November 6, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Jewell and Delbert Spain. She married Edward Lucasey on February 3, 1951 and is survived by him and their three daughters. Rhonda (Steve) Rowe of Bedford, NH, Sandy Skorput of Chattanooga, TN and Gail (Mike) Schultz of Charleston, Il. She is also survived by 2 granddaughters, Erin and Casey and three grandsons, Brian, Kyle and Corey. In addition, Barbara is survived by three great grandchildren, Sadie, Danny and Conor and expecting her fourth in November 2020. She is survived by her sister, Alice Paez her niece Patti Paez and three nephews, Mark, Michael and James Peavey. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Martha (Russ) Peavey.
Barbara graduated from Austin High School and lived and worked in various places, including Addison, IL, Ridgewood, NJ, Tucson, AZ and Gladstone, MO, where she worked for TWA for ten years before retiring in Lakeway Texas in 1994. She was a member of Emmaus Catholic Church.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her sister Alice, traveling with her husband and entertaining at home. She and her husband lived at Retama Gardens for many years where they swam in the pool and went for daily walks. Barbara and Ed moved to Brookdale in 2019 for some much-deserved rest and relaxation.
Arrangements are being handled by Weed, Corley and Fish Funeral Home, Lakeway, TX. Barbara’s celebration of life will be scheduled later in the year, once COVID restrictions are relaxed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
