Betty Helen Murphy Davis was called Home to be with Jesus on April 1, 2025. A true servant of God, she faithfully served her family as a beloved wife to Jack Edward and loving mother to Gary Edward, Angela Rhea, and Christopher Matthew.
Born in Marlin, Texas on November 19, 1941, Betty was the first child of Ephy Carl and Gladys Murphy and sister to Frances Dudley and Carl Murphy. The Murphy family grew up in Angleton, Texas.
Betty met the love of her life, Jack Edward, in January 1962 and they began their life together in Austin, Texas while he was putting himself through school at the University of Texas. Betty and Jack were united in marriage at Hyde Park Baptist Church on November 16, 1962 and began raising their family.
She built a loving, Christian foundation for their home. Betty was gracious, loving and compassionate to everyone she met and gathered her strength from the authority of God's word. Her life was about serving her family, and her purpose in doing anything was to do for others.
Betty was a graduate of Angleton High School in Angleton, Texas, and continued her education at Baylor University. She was a loving homemaker who loved God and the scripture that grounded her most was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Devout Christians, Betty and Jack were longtime members of Main Street Baptist Church of Georgetown.
Now Betty can rest in peace with the Lord and the angels before her. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jack Edward Davis; beloved son Gary Edward Davis; father and mother Ephy Carl and Gladys Murphy.
She is survived by daughter Angela Rhea Davis Mushegan and husband L. Michael Mushegan of Keller; son Christopher Matthew Davis and wife Jennifer Dawn Morris Davis of Austin; and daughter-in-law Laura Dee Smith Davis of Austin; “MawMaw” to her grandchildren, Austin Edward Davis, L. Michael Mushegan II and wife Kelsey Dawn Woodfield Mushegan, Jordan Christopher Davis, Cole Aaron Mushegan, Braden Wray Davis, Alexie Taylor Mushegan, and Lily Dee Davis; great-grandchild, Jackson Edward Davis; sister Frances Dudley of Georgetown; and brother Carl Murphy and wife Trish Murphy of Georgetown; brother-in-law Will Davis and wife Suzanne of Austin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly and spoke of often.
Burial blessing and graveside service for Betty Davis will take place in Austin, Texas at 10:30 am on Monday, April 7 at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery located at Mopac and Hancock (2222). A reception will take place immediately following.
Although she is no longer with us here, now she is at her eternal Home with Jesus and our heavenly loved ones. Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
