Bobby and his family moved to Austin after his father died when Bobby was 4½ years old. He attended Govalle Elementary, Allen Jr. High, and graduated from Travis High in 1954. He was in the Navy from 1954 to 1960. He also attended Nixon-Clay Business College and the University of Texas at Austin. In 1958, Bob married the love of his life, Louise Smith, and were married for 56½ years until her death in 2014. Bob worked in grocery store management for many years. He also worked as a salesman for El Galindo and Pepperidge Farm until his retirement to their ranch in Spicewood in 1999. He was a member and coached Little League at Delwood Northeast Optimist Club. He also volunteered at Pedernales Fire Department events and was a past president of the Pedernales Property Owner's Association (PPOA) supporting many of the events over the last 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, and his parents.
Bob is survived by his son, Bobby Jr. of Spicewood, daughters Kim Metz (Don) of Cedar Park, Terri Peters (Richard) of Spicewood, and Becky Kelly (Brian) of Spicewood; his grandchildren, Amanda (Ray), Brian Jr., Thomas (fiancé Molly), Kenny (Anna), Taylor, Paul, Rachel (Ian), and Remington; three great grandchildren, Kenny Jr., Keegan and Jackson with the fourth due in June. He is also survived by his sister Ann (Jerry) Scott of Sun City, TX; his brother Dub Dye of Elgin, TX; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers are Brian Kelly, Jr., Thomas Metz, Kenny Kelly, Paul Kelly, Remington Peters, Ray Jeffrey, Ian Johnson and Nathan Hunt.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Austin Ridge Bible Church, Building D, 9300 Bee Caves Road, Austin, Texas under the direction of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, Lakeway, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Helping Hands, 512 Pace Bend Road-North, Spicewood, 78669.
