

Chris grew up in Manhattan and graduated from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. The Cooper Union was an unparalleled college education in architecture, art and engineering. The tuition was free and therefore, very selective. After graduating from Cooper Union College with an engineering degree, Chris began working for the U.S. Navy Department, Bureau of Ships as a Design Engineer. In 1951, Chris married the love of his life, Audrey E. (Batchelder) Young in East Meadow, Long Island, NY in 1951. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in August of 2021. Chris was drafted into the US Army in 1954 during the Korean War. After, the Army and living in Washington D.C. and Bethesda, MD. Chris moved to Long Island City, NY and began working for Ford Instrument Co., Division of Sperry Rand Inc. as an Engineering Manager. At Ford he helped design, develop and manufacture the guidance and control systems of the Army’s Redstone and Jupiter ballistic missile systems. In 1962 he began a long career with Booz Allen & Hamilton as a Vice President of Booz, Allen Applied Research in Chicago, Vice President of Landrum and Brown; a subsidiary of Booz Allen, Vice President managing officer of the firm’s Project management and control Division and a division President . As a managing officer, Booz Allen & Hamilton took him all over the world and the United States. Chris and Audrey purchased their first home in Levittown, Long Island NY. Then Chris and Audrey settled in Chicago, Illinois, where they adopted 3 children from different families from Catholic Charities of Chicago. After Chicago, Chris & the family were transferred to Cincinnati, Ohio, Weston, Connecticut and then Great Falls, Virginia. After Great Falls, Christ retired from Booz Allen and started his own consulting Company called Unison Consulting Group. Chris & Audrey built their dream home on 20 acres in Unison, VA, right outside of Middleburg, VA.. Then he and Audrey followed their first grandkids to Austin, TX. In addition, they resided in Pagosa Springs, CO for part of the year for 6 years. Chris was very dedicated to his family and church.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved wife, Audrey Elizabeth Young, son, Matthew Christian Young, a son-in-law, Brent Kay.
Surviving are his daughters, Amanda Gail Kay and Abigail Atwell & her husband Eugene Atwell. Five grandchildren,Taylor Atwell, Paige Atwell, Liam Kay, Noah Kay and Meredith Kay.
