Cristian Ryan Martinez

October 10th, 1988 - May 2nd, 2016

Cristian was mercifully taken to his eternal resting place in heaven on May 2nd after a hard fought battle for his life at Brackenridge Hospital. He spent 23 days in the Intensive Care Unit at this hospital battling a serious heart infection. At the time of his death, Cristian was surrounded by his loving family that maintained vigil over him for the duration of his stay in the hospital.

Cristian was best described by all who knew him as a sweet, kind and sensitive person. He was not only the "baby" of the immediate family but was also the youngest of a large extended family of cousins from San Antonio where he was born. He lived in San Antonio until the age of 6 when he moved with his brothers, mother and step-father to Tulsa, OK. This began a series of moves associated with his step-father's career that took Cristian from Tulsa to Toledo, OH to Phoenix, AZ to Chicago, IL before returning to Texas to live in Austin at the age of 16. Cristian graduated from Cedar Park High School in 2006.

Cristian is survived by his mother, Linda Ramirez Smith, his brothers Aaron and Jme Martinez, his step-father, Richard Smith, his father, Roger Martinez, his half-sister, Demi Martinez, his step-sisters, Audrey Krupa and Vanessa Jungbauer and a large extended family of Aunts, Uncles and cousins lovingly referred to as "La Familia". He loved dearly being part of this family and knew that he was loved by all.

We will all miss daily having sweet Cristian in our lives. We live with the confidence that he is now with Jesus in heaven and no longer feels the pain and suffering he endured in the hospital. We cherish the memory of Cristian and his quiet demeanor. He was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him and getting to appreciate his loving kindness. He was passionate about the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs and loved talking with his brothers about all things sports.

There will be complimentary food and drinks, so if you knew Cristian for years or just met him please come. We would love to hear any stories or adventures you had with him or just your presence as his friend would be amazing.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Austin Christian Fellowship Church, 6401 River Place Blvd., Austin, Texas 78730 (512) 381-5700. A Celebration will be held after services at the University of Texas Golf Club, 2200 University Club Drive, Austin, Texas 78732 (512) 266-6464.

A Gathering of family and friends to celebrate Cristian Ryan's life will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Taco Haven Restaurant, 1032 S. Presa Street in San Antonio, Texas 78210 (210) 533-2171.

We always did and always will love you, Cristian! We know you are now with family that preceded you in heaven, and live with the confidence that we will all be together again for eternity.
