August 17, 1926 - August 14, 2013
Elaine was born August 17, 1926 in Oak Park, Illinois. She was raised in Chicago by her Aunt Edna, following the respective deaths of her parents, during infancy and early childhood. After college, Elaine moved to Venezuela to serve as a school teacher for Creole Oil where she met the love of her life & future husband, Grover Newsom, a petroleum engineer.
Grover's career with Esso Oil took the family to live in Libya and Australia. In each country, Elaine, who enjoyed talking with everyone, immersed herself in the local life and cultural while being the homemaker and household manager while Grover served in the oil fields and off shore oil platforms. After Grover's death in 1971, Elaine & the girls, returned stateside and moved into their Lakeway home that Grover built in 1970. Elaine enjoyed her many years of participating in the various Lakeway bridge groups and community activities, including carrying around the petition to form the lake Travis I.S.D., much to the chiding from the then established residents.
The family would like to thank the family she formed and friends she met during her time at the Lakeway Summit assisted living and then their skilled nursing.
She is survived by daughter Cynthia Mohle, and husband Charles Mohle, and daughter Jeannie Rheinlander, and husband Paul Rheinlander, and grandchildren Brandon & Tara Rheinlander.
A private family burial will celebrate her life per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
