

Eleanor Jean Gamble, 97, of Austin Texas, formerly of Gig Harbor, WA, died peacefully at her assisted living residence on March 1, 2022 in Austin. Born March 27, 1924, in Olalla, WA, she is predeceased by her parents Theodore and Esther Carlson of Washington and her late husband of 55 years, James Gamble also of Gig Harbor, WA.
Eleanor was a homemaker living with her husband in Portland, Minneapolis, and Chicago during his working years before settling back in Washington, first on Fox Island and later in Gig Harbor. Shortly after her husband’s passing in 2002, she moved to Austin to be near family. She was a devout Episcopalian and loved gardening, reading, golf, bridge, cooking from scratch, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her brother Rod Carlson of Gig Harbor, WA; son Steve Gamble of Dallas, TX, son Bruce Gamble and daughter-in-law Ginger Kuester of Necedah, WI, and son Jim Gamble and daughter-in-law Amy Gamble both of Meadowlakes, TX; three grandchildren, granddaughter Allison Gamble of Austin, TX and grandsons Jason Gamble of Chicago, IL and Jonathan Gamble of Austin, TX along with three great grandchildren, Christian Gamble, Kira Gamble, and Riley Gamble all of Chicago, IL.
The family wishes to sincerely thank all those who cared for at her assisted living residence, Longhorn Village along with St. Luke’s on the Lake Episcopal Church where she was a member. The family plans to celebrate her life later this year back in Washington state.
