He graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Having pursued ROTC, George was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. After serving in Vietnam from 1968-1969, George retired his army life to pursue a Masters degree in Business from the University of Southern Mississippi. He eventually worked 22 years for the Coastal Oil and Gas Corporation in Houston, TX.
He was a member of the Army Reserve until his retirement from Coastal in 1999. He served 37 years in the U.S military, and he was an army man to the very end and loved to tell his many stories, especially about serving under George S. Patton IV in Vietnam.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Addie Carr and George Lundy Carr Senior, as well as his sister, Beth Gentry and brother, Edward Carr.
His survivors include three children and their families: Lauren Zufall and her husband Ed Zufall of Cypress, TX, George L.Carr III of Houston, TX, and Julie Kelley of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his cousin, Kenneth Parker and his wife Melissa of San Antonio, TX. He also has five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
George and Pat retired to Canyon Lake, TX in 1999. Here they could travel to small Texas towns and enjoy the Hill Country life. They enjoyed traveling around the United States, as well as Europe. In 2017, they moved to Lakeway, TX and participated in local activities.
