Jimmie died peacefully of a recent illness at the home of her daughter Jackie McCarra on April 21.
She is survived by her son Patrick Schultea and daughters Jackie McCarra and Tara Ray.
Jimmie served as a policewoman in the Houston Police Department for twenty years. She was in the
second graduating class of policewomen in the history of the force. She participated in many interesting
cases even going undercover on occasion. Jimmie was a mainstay of the Juvenile Department.
Her love of Texas history was deep. Jimmie was proud to be a direct descendant of empresario Green
DeWitt and his wife Sarah Sealy DeWitt. They founded the second largest colony in Texas in 1826. The
battle of the Texas revolution was fought in 1835 in Gonzalez the capital of the colony. The famous
“Come and Take It” battle flag was made from a family wedding dress. Jimmie was a devoted member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas for many years. She was a member of Simonton Community Church.
Jimmie was widowed three times after the marriages of Robert Schultea, Harold Reid and Franklin
Wootten. She is survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
