Joe Todd Walker, known to his family and close friends as “Jody”, and to his Clients and Business associates as “Pyro Joe” went home to be with the Lord on September 8th, 2021. He was a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, and a friend. His passion for life was evident from the moment you met him. His huge smile and booming voice were present wherever he went and his mere presence would literally fill a room when he walked in.
His artistic talent surrounded him everywhere from the Pyrotechnic displays that he designed and performed to the floral arrangements that are present in many families and friends homes.
Joe loved adventure and acquired a love of snowmobiling in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. “It is the closest I have ever felt to God”, he would say, sitting atop a snowmobile on the top of the Continental Divide looking out into the vast snowcapped mountains. He lived life to the fullest!
Joe will be remembered for how he would hold tens of thousands of people in awe of his work for 8 minutes at a time. His legacy will be the amazing, choreographed fireworks displays that have been performed throughout the years at some of the top venues in the state of Texas, including the Houston Astros, The Texas Rangers, and The University of Texas at Austin. His commencement fireworks show is a tradition that began 27 years ago. His accomplishments there will be remembered in the photographs that grace the halls throughout the UT Campus.
This is only part of his Legacy. He left the legacy of love and friendship with everybody who had the privilege of knowing him. They will always remember his kind and generous spirit and how he never backed down from a challenge. Always putting others before himself.
But most of all, he will be remembered as a beloved husband to Vickie Walker, and amazing father.
We will be honoring Joe’s life with a Celebration of Life Ceremony later this year.
