Linda English was born September 24, 1945 at Florence Nightingale Maternity hospital in Dallas Texas. She retired in 2000 after 35 years with Delta Airlines. On March 01, 2021 she earned her angel wings and is resting with her Dad Jonas Owen English and Mama Mary Blossom Moody English. She wore warrior garb as she fought mesothelioma the past three years, she never complained, never whined. She was the definition of grace under fire.
Her family and friends will always remember her "gotcha" sense of humor, and quick wit. Also not forgotten is her pure devotion to animals, her love of cooking, eating great food, and entertaining friends and family. Her big beautiful brown eyes revealed a kind and generous soul.
Queenie, as her closest friends called her, grew up in Mineola, Texas; she was raised in her Father's funeral home. After a few years at Stephen F Austin State University, she departed college life to work for Delta Airlines. She traveled the world and shared her love of the Dallas Cowboys with everyone she could. She joined Delta in the '60s as a stewardess and retired when cabin crews were called flight attendants.
One memorable story she told was when she was bemoaning the fact her parents were in their 40’s when she was born. Around the time Linda entered high school a teacher asked her students to complete a questionnaire asking things like favorite movie star, favorite book, etc. when it was her turn to read her answers, her classmates loudly snickered when she said Lawrence Welk was her favorite band. She blamed her humiliation on her ancient parents.
She was predeceased by her parents Jonas Owen English and Mary Moody English, her older sister Mary English and her beloved cousin Judy Henderson. Grieving her departure is her wife, Patti Raso, dearest nephews, Chris Howell (Anne), John Raso (Rebecca) treasured niece, Marisa Raso (Levi), and an abundance of great-nieces, nephews, and friends. She also leaves her doggies, Teddy, and Mercedes.
Her family would like to acknowledge Hospice Austin, specifically Linda’s nurse, Diana Wagner-Sparks for her superlative care. Should you wish, donations may be made in Linda’s honor to saintlouisehouse.org or austinpetsalive.org.
