Ms. Mary Jane Sandlin passed away peacefully on August 16 in Lakeway, Texas after a courageous battle with ongoing illnesses. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James and Lula Sandlin, her sister, Laviana "Sunny" Barrow, and brother-in-law, Wes Barrow. She is survived by her nephews Robert McDonald, Solomon Barrow, Jr., her nieces Bibi McDonald, Dolly Barrow, and her great nephews Travis McDonald and Solomon Barrow, III.
The much loved Mary, who was affectionately called "Aunt Mary" or "Aunt Jane" by almost everyone she knew, was born in Houston, Texas on April 3, 1921. Her family later moved to Beaumont, Texas where her father practiced medicine.
Mary dedicated her life to serving others. She was an accomplished and avid musician with an extensive education culminating in a Masters of Music. Mary's faith was very important to her; she often included sacred music in her programs to give glory to God.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20 at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas with Reverend Chacko Puthumayil officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and the Sisters of the Incarnate Word Academy, 3400 Bradford Place, Houston, Texas.
