Michael Wayne Bewley, age 61, passed gracefully from this realm on Monday, August 1, 2016 in Bee Cave, Texas, after a productive and spirited life. The family is grateful he is at peace. Memorial services will be on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 10 a.m. located at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel in Lakeway, Texas.
Mike Bewley was born September 10, 1954 to Donald Bewley and Glena Ruth Tribble Bewley and was raised in Lubbock, Texas. After high school he attended Texas Tech University, where he played baseball during all four years. Mike's talent was evident in the records that he still maintains today, holding the most runs-batted-in record (9 in one game). He also led the team in home runs for three consecutive seasons (1974-76). His love of the Red Raiders continued until his last breath.
Mike Bewley lived most of his adult life near Marble Falls, Texas. He grew his own business as a Painter and developed many close connections across the decades that he grew his life there. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and appreciated the beauty that nature provided. He retired in his last year of life and was able to spend more time doing the things he loved most.
Mike Bewley was preceded in death by his mother Glena Ruth Tribble Bewley on September 28, 2013. He married Brenda Kinning and had two sons. He is survived by his two sons, Wes Bewley and wife Amanda Bewley of Bee Cave, Texas; Marshall Bewley and partner Shaun Boliver of Denton, Texas; brother Steve Bewley and wife Gay Bewley of Lubbock, Texas; sister Leisa Davis and husband Doug Davis of Bee Cave, Texas; brother Don Bewley and wife Andrea Bewley of Lubbock, Texas; sister Brenda Thrash and husband Dusty Thrash of Lubbock, Texas; grandson Wyatt Bewley; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, caregivers, more numerous than the fish he caught over his lifetime.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff members at Austin Hospice; we are particularly grateful to Hospice for nurse Patty Almond, Chaplain Melissa Dowling, and Social Worker, Grace Gould.
Our Father and Brother was connected to more than just himself in this world. He loved nature and being near animals at any chance. He taught his sons important life lessons, some of which occurred on trips of fly fishing and hunting. He taught respect for others, and respect all of God's creatures. He taught us so much about kindness, friendship, unconditional love, and finding joy in the small things in life. Over the past year of his life, he lived with sister Leisa and formed even closer bonds with family members. In this year, he also formally accepted Christ, the son of the living God as his personal savior, and Jesus to be eternally with him. He was able to spend his last few weeks doing his favorite things: spending time in Alaska with nature and close family, spending time on his hunting lease with his son and grandson, and creating more memories with family. Rest in your reward, dear gentleman, and thanks for the lessons. Our legacy is to carry all of that proudly yet humbly forward and to perpetuate those same deeds.
