Richard Alan (Dick) Finnegan, 57, died on February 15, 2011. He was born November 27, 1953 in Rome, New York to John and Kathryn Finnegan. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Gail Jemelka, and sons, Gavin, Shane and Cullen Finnegan. He is also survived by his brother, Jack, and wife Paula Finnegan, their children, Deb and Jim; and sister, Barbara, and husband William Oliver, and their children Katie and Bence. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Dick grew up in Rome, New York, but job opportunities brought him to Austin where he raised his cherished sons and spent most of his adult life. He worked for, and retired from the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Dick enjoyed life to the fullest through many outdoor activities which included skiing, hunting with his sons and riding his motorcycle. He was a kind and fun loving person who loved his family and many friends. He was an active member of Queen of Angels Chapel /Emmaus Catholic Church where he developed a close relationship with God.
A rosary will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00AM at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Queen of Angels Chapel, Emmaus Catholic Church, or Texas Special Olympics.
