Robert Arthur Johnson, kisser of the ladies, all-star winker, Kenny Rogers look-alike, and lover of tractors, guns, hats and boots, entered this world on March 28, 1941 and passed away on July 3, 2021.
Robert, a well-respected home builder from a long line of builders, definitely knew how to build a high-quality, attention to detail custom creation. He instinctively knew how to look at a piece of property and envision the diamond in the rough. His ability to situate a house in order to fully maximize the view was amazing and something on which everyone commented. He was a gifted master craftsman.
But as gifted as he was a home builder, his true God-given gift was as a relationship builder. Maybe when God gave Robert his home-building skills, he also intended him to use those skills to build relationships because that is exactly what he did. Robert was, above all, a master craftsman of love.
Robert’s foundation began when the form boards came down and revealed an unshakeable faith. His love for God and others was his guiding principle throughout his life.
Robert’s framing years as a son of Randolph and Myrtle Johnson included a loving family of six. As a native Austinite he attended Eanes ISD and Austin High. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy, trained in aviation electronics at Moffett Field. Robert spent the majority of his adult life building relationships through family businesses.
Robert’s interior construction consisted of his giant heart and his ability to unconditionally love every person he encountered. Whether you knew him as Robert, Dad, or Papaw, you remember the words, “I love you, sugar,” or “I love you, man.” He could make you feel like the most important person to him, and at that moment, you were.
Robert’s finish-out was the legacy he crafted of hard-working, morally sound family and friends who strive to emulate his love of God and others. He leaves behind a wife, Dianne; siblings Rodger Johnson (Leona), LaDon Mihleder; children Richard Johnson (Kim), David Johnson (Becky), Becky Welborn (James), and Adam Johnson (Trayce); stepchildren Julie Lee (Vinson), Jenny De La Rosa (Erik), and Marc Harrison; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert’s warranty assures us of an eternal future together with him in the house that God built, as he joins his parents Randolph and Myrtle, and his brother Henry Johnson.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, 411 RR620 South in Lakeway.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Bee Creek United Methodist Church, 3000 Bee Creek Rd. in Spicewood. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca, TX.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bee Creek United Methodist Church, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Dripping Springs Christian Academy.
