

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William Robert Daugherty, beloved educator, coach, and mentor, on January 2, 2025, at the age of 47. Born and raised in Levelland, Texas, William graduated from Levelland High School in 1996, where he proudly served as the school's Lucky Lobo Mascot. He dedicated his life to enriching the lives of young people through teaching, coaching, and inspiring excellence.
William earned an Associate of Science from South Plains College and a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University. His passion for education was evident in his decades-long teaching career. Most recently, he was proud to serve as an educator and coach at Del Valle High School in Austin, Texas, where he continued to inspire students and athletes with his unwavering dedication and enthusiasm.
William was also a highly accomplished coach. As a Head Instructor with the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA), he trained athletes and coaches across the country, earning recognition for his outstanding leadership and expertise. His choreography and instruction were celebrated at national events, and he received numerous honors for his contributions to the field of cheerleading.
Over the span of 20 years, William led and coached several successful cheerleading programs in the San Antonio area, inspiring his athletes and creating a culture of hard work, sportsmanship, and inclusion. His legacy is marked by his unwavering commitment to his athletes, his innovative spirit, and his dedication to excellence.
Additionally, he brought his passion and skill to the Champions All-Stars program in San Antonio, where he coached teams to multiple national titles, including two NCA National Championships. The success and growth of the athletes he mentored further underscore his legacy as a coach.
William was more than an educator and coach; he was a role model, a friend, and a beacon of positivity in his community. He believed in the potential of every student and worked tirelessly to foster environments where they could thrive, not just academically or athletically, but personally. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he taught, coached, and mentored.
William was preceded in death by his loving parents, Pamela Daugherty and Bill Daugherty. He is survived by his sisters, Paula Dull and Esther Layland, and his brother, "Wes" Daugherty.
