Bernice Alexander-Bradley passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2019 in Lancaster California, surrounded by all of her children and God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Thomas Alexander and Mrs. Ethel Moore-Alexander, her late husband Watson Bradley Sr., one brother Jamison Moore, and three sisters; Ethel Mae Moore Ware, Juanita Alexander-Hankins, Rose Mary Bullock and her eldest son Curtis Alexander, her daughter Edith Alexander-White, granddaughter, Romeka Block and grandson, James Ware Jr.
She leaves, to cherish her memory, four children; James Alexander, Ida Bradley, Watson Bradley Jr., and Barbara Bradley-Martin-Collier, as well as seven grandchildren; Curtis Alexander Jr, James Alexander Jr, Jason Alexander, Areveon Martin, LaTrice Eckford-Howie, Thomas Bradley, and Sabrina Black, as well as, ten great grandchildren, and a host of Nieces and Nephews too numerous to list.
As a young mother with three children, Bernice boarded a train to leave Texarkana Texas for Los Angeles, California to start a new life for herself and to ensure her children got a good education and unlimited opportunities.
It wasn’t easy for her at first because she had to find work and care for her children, but she was determined, and her Faith in God was strong - and with a little help from her sister Juanita, she succeeded.
While living in Los Angeles Bernice later met a young man name Watson Bradley who was an electrical repairman working at the Airport. They fell in love and were married in 1959. From their union, three children were born and Bernice was now the mother of six. Bernice had been a hard working women before becoming a dedicated homemaker, at which she also excelled.
Bernice was a dear friend to many, an Auntie to some, but a Mother to us All. She made every effort to stay in touch with as many family members as possible by either writing, calling or sending cards and letters on special occasions. She never forgot a Family member’s Birthday, or failed to attend an important family meeting or event.
If she was able, she would always lend a hand or help someone in need. This very special and precious woman of God will be sorely missed by her family, and by everyone else that knew and loved her.
REST IN PEACE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT - FOR YOU HAVE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT-AND NOW ITS TIME TO COME HOME.
