Diana Simmons was born to the parents of Raft Sr. and Maebell Simmons on June 19, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana. The family later moved to Los Angeles, California when Diana was 14 years old.
She attended John Adams Junior High School and graduated from Jefferson High School of Los Angeles, CA. Straight out of high school at the age of eighteen, Diana acquired a job at Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical Center (LAC-USC Medical Center).
She worked for LAC-USC Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant in the Pediatric Department. She loved caring for the infants and children. Later in her vocation, Diana furthered her education at LAC-USC Medical Center by acquiring her Nursing Assistant certification. Throughout her career, Diana received multiple accolades and recognition for her teamwork, impeccable work ethic and years of service. She remained a loyal and dedicated employee at LAC-USC Medical Center for 39 years until she retired at the age of 57.
After Diana retired, she continued to give of herself selflessly. She opened her doors to her brother, Donald Simmons for 5 years. She then welcomed her mother Maebell Simmons into her home for 13 years where she cared for her, with the help of her brother, Donald. With open arms, she even received her nephew, Jerry Hardge into her home where he remained until her passing. She always put others before herself. She is truly the epitome of love.
Diana enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She would hang out and watch movies with her brother Donald who was her confidant and friend, travel to Washington State to spend time with her sister Sallie, walk on the beach at Belmont Shore with her sister Artensia (Noonie), and go out to eat with her niece, Trina.
She loved crocheting and knitting, taking power walks, shopping, shopping and more shopping, watching Western movies, eating at her favorite restaurant, Olive Garden and most of all, spending countless hours with the joy of her life, her fur baby, Pepper.
Diana will be most remembered for her gentle spirit and her feistiness. She has left a permanent imprint in our hearts and she will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raft C. Simmons Sr. and Maebell Simmons, her brother, Joseph Simmons and nephew, Scott Johnson.
Diana Simmons leaves to cherish her devoted memories: Two brothers, Donald Simmons & Raft Simmons Jr. Two sisters, Sallie Adamson & Artensia (Noonie) McGee. Nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
