

At a young age, Doris moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she received her education. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1958 and also attended Lemoyne-Owen College.
In 1958, Doris met James C. Bradford, Jr. and on November 27th, 1958 they were married. To this union, six children were born.
In 1962, Doris and family left Memphis, Tennessee and relocated to Los Angeles, California.
Doris began her career as a telephone operator in 1970, with Pacific Telephone. She left Pacific Telephone and moved to Pacoima, California and began her career with G.T.E. in May 1975. Doris supervised numerous people to make sure accurate and courtesy service was given. After 20 years of service with G.T.E., Doris retired in October 1995.
She spent her retirement enjoying life with her family, relatives, friends and the Golden Girls.
Doris renewed her faith in 2012 as she became a member and was baptized under Minister Leo Gay Church of Christ in North Las Vegas, Nevada. She was an active member until she became sick and moved back to Lancaster, California in 2015.
Doris was a fun, loving and beautiful person. She loved watching westerns, loved to gamble, listening to oldies and most of all, her grandkids and great-grandkids. Doris had the most beautiful smile which would light the room up. Her laugh was unforgettable.
Doris was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert and Bessie Shannon; brother, Stanley L. Blair; son, James C. Bradford III; and grandson, Xavier C. Bradford.
Precious memories of Doris are left with her children: Yvette, Robert (Tanya), Thomas (Sherilyn), Ronuld (Shawn) and LaTanya. One uncle: Lafayette (Uncleboy) Fuller. Two aunts: Virsie L. Shannon and Lucille Llewellyn. One brother-in-law: John W Bradford. Grandchildren: Mia, Ashley, Asja, Monique, Melanie, Rachel, Maeci and Bobbi. Great-grandkids: Isiah, Brea, Taylor, Benjamin (Beni) III, Kalvyn, Kalypso and Cree. Step-grandkids: Brittani, Brianna and Esaw. God-son: Miles McNeal.
