Gary was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 14, 1938. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, N.Y. He continued his education taking evening classes in management.
Gary was married to Christine Walls on August 6, 1967. they were married for 50 years. Christine had four children from a previous marriage whom Gary helped raise as his own. Gary and Christine also had one child together.
Gary worked in aircraft from 1961 - 1969. He began his career with the US Postal Service in 1969. He retired from the Postal Service in 1996.
Gary loved going to the races, often with his daughter Rebecca, and placing dollar belts on his favorite horses.
Gary is survived by his grandchildren, four step-children: Elena, Kenneth, Rebecca, Rodney and daughter Anna.
Gary is preceded in death by wife Christine Salmansohn and grandson Richard Boydston.
