

Born May 25, 1930 in Fort Myers Michigan, passed away January 11, 2026 in Quartz Hill California, aged 95 years 7 months.
Hank attended elementary through high school in Pennsylvania while living on a large farm with his adoptive family, enlisting in the army shortly after graduation. After boot camp and jump school he was off to Korea as a member of the 11th Airborne. His outfit was absorbed into the Army's 3rd Infantry Division after arriving in Korea.
Hank was awarded three battle stars for action against the enemy. He was also awarded two cherished Silver Stars for rescuing wounded members of his outfit. A squad leader, he received one of his coveted Silver Stars for crawling on his stomach to rescue two infantrymen while under heavy enemy fire at an isolated outpost. His other Silver Star was awarded for a similar heroic exploit at another isolated battle site north of the 38th parallel. He was also awarded two Purple Hearts; one for a shrapnel wound to the head and the other for a bullet wound to the leg.
Hank attained the rank of master sergeant, serving until 1960 including time spent at Penn State as a ROTC and military science instructor.
After the army, he worked construction in Colorado and Nevada before becoming a contractor in California where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gold prospecting. He was active in veterans’ organizations, the Elks Lodge and other groups.
Hank was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carmen and his faithful dog and good buddy Pepper.
