

Henry Jean Hughes daughter of Henry and Rachel Mitchell was born on October 17, 1922 in Rockdale, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Allen Chapel AME in Fort Worth, Texas. Henry Jean received her early childhood education and attended I.M. Terrell High School in Fort Worth, Texas, she would later attend California School of Nursing to achieve her License Vocational Nursing degree.
In 1938, she met and married the late Arthur Hughes, from this union 2 children were born Dolores and James.
In 1943, the family relocated to Los Angeles, California where she began her nursing career at Cedar Sinai Medical Center as a nurse’s aide. During her 38 years of employment she was able to utilize her LVN degree. During this time Henry Jean was a very hard worker and worked a second job to provide for her family. Henry Jean was a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, music and spending quality with her family.
Those who will welcome her into Glory are her parents Henry and Rachel Mitchell, grandchildren Anthony, Antionette and Kevin, sister Elonia, niece Archie and son James.
Henry Jean leaves to celebrate her homegoing from earth to Glory and to cherish her precious memories one daughter Dolores (Odell Sr.), Grandson Odell Jr.(LaMarcia), Granddaughter Cheryl (Lester), Keisha. Great granddaughters Tamieka, Tamara (Jeff), Talisha (Lorenzo). Great Grandsons Tyrone (Janet), Shomari (Angel), Michael O. Great granddaughter Ty’Nisha, and great grandsons Michael B., Timothy and Titus. She also leaves to cherish her memories two great nephews James and Melvin Dixon, along with 17 great great Grandchildren
