Jannie Mae Only was born in Oakfield, Georgia to Harry Only and Jannie Lou Only (Thomas) (Deceased) on November, 27, 1940. She was one of nine children. Her family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where she attended Church of God in Christ, and was baptized at an early age. She attended Douglas Anderson High School and graduated on May 22, 1963.
In 1965, Jannie met Noble Lee Ransom Sr. who was stationed in the Navy in Jacksonville, Florida. The two fell in love and were married on September 30, 1965. They then relocated to Los Angeles; during their union they had three wonderful children: Janell, Noble Jr., and Felicia. While living in Los Angeles, Jannie attended the Ransom Family home church; Gospel Temple Baptist Church, where she became a born again Christian. She later joined Holy Pilgrim Church of God in Christ which became the Church she attended with her three young children.
Jannie was always a go-getter; she was a very hard worker. She joined the company Star-Kist and worked there for a little over a year. In 1974, Jannie was hired at Kmart where she was a faithful worker, and served for 19 years before she retired. Jannie loved her family and friends; and was loved by all who came to know her. She was unselfish and generous of her time; she gave freely without hesitation, or question. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Wife, and Friend. Her dedication to Christ, her family, and friends was beautiful and long lasting. Her memories will truly be cherished and missed.
