Maxcine Bright

Maxcine was born February 29th, 1948, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; yes, she’s a leap year baby. She was our mother’s eldest child of four. Maxcine lived a life of serving others; wherever there was a need, she felt the need to help. She was the most selfless person I know; even when she had little to give, she gave. To know her was to love her, and I’m sure many of you here today can attest to that. To everyone who knew her, Maxine was the embodiment of warmth. She had a gift for making people feel seen and heard. Conversations with her were effortless because she listened with her whole heart.

She never judged, never rushed, and never made anyone feel like a burden. She treated every person who walked through her door like family. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and salvation for her family was a priority to her. Proverbs 22:6: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. She did this for her children and grandchildren.

Maxcine leaves behind her husband, Johnny Bright, and two children, John Barnes III and Monica Walls. Four stepchildren: Johnny Bright III, Lavel Bright, Jerry Bright, and Darlene McGee. A daughter-in-law, Brandy Barnes; a son-in-law, Doc Walls III. A sister, Estelle Pettway, and a brother, George Mack. A brother-in-law, Lewis Pettway, and a sister-in-law, Madeline Mack. Grandchildren Doc IV, Jaron, Kianna, Michael, Jeremiah, Josiah, Isiah, Elijah, and Jordan. Great-grandchildren Peyton, Tavin II, Raelynn, Sabali, and Aha-Ni, along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

While our hearts are saddened to see her go, our hope is in knowing we will see her again in eternity!

May our queen rest in the peace of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ!

A visitation will be held at Joshua Memorial Park Mortuary, located at 808 East Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster, CA, 93535, US. The visitation is scheduled for January 24, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service is scheduled for January 24, 2026, from 11:00am to 12:00pm. The graveside service is scheduled for January 24, 2026, 12:30pm. There will be a repass following the services at 44260 Dahlia St. Lancaster, CA 93535
