Waters, Michael, R. Age 78, Retired Los Angeles County Fire Captain passed away after a short illness on March 30, 2013, in Palmdale, California. Mike is preceded in death by his wife Marie. Survived by his wife Judy, daughter Cynthia son Greg, step -children; Ann and Joe, grandchildren , Melissa, Joseph, Anthony and Hannah, nieces, Becky, Emili and nephew Chris. Mike was well known for his many achievements in Drag Racing, Hydroplane Boat Racing and Land Speed Racing. He currently holds several land speed records. Mike held various positions on the Board of Directors of every racing venue in which he competed. He was very passionate about preserving the integrity of the Southern California Timing Association for future land speed record achievers. Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m.with a Rosary at 7p.m. Monday, April 08, 2013 at Joshua Memorial Park and Mortuary, Lancaster. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 09, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Graveside service to follow at Joshua Memorial Park and Mortuary, Lancaster.
